Emergency Response & Planning
Every business must conform to OSHA (Occupational Safe and Health Administration) requirements to “Provide a workplace free from serious recognized hazards and comply with standards, rules and regulations issued under the OSHA Act.”
OSHA standard 1910.38 stipulates that your business must have an emergency action plan. But an emergency action plan coupled with a holistic emergency management program will improve a “workplace free from serious recognized hazards” including public disorder, workplace violence, active shooter, bomb threats, natural disasters, and communication methodologies.
A subset practice of Security Management is the development of an emergency management program with a cohesive set of policy, standards, and procedures; emergency playbooks to reduce the vulnerability to “serious recognized hazards;” and proactive preparedness activities and responses to a disaster.
Emergency management does not avert or eliminate disasters; instead, it focuses on creating specific processes to decrease the subsequent effect of disasters. Failure could lead to human mortality, lost revenue, and damage to assets. Events covered by emergency management include acts of terrorism, industrial sabotage, fire, natural disasters (such as earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.), public disorder, industrial accidents, and telecommunication failures.
At Invictus, it is our mission to execute emergency management practices that evaluate, assess, and prioritize emergency hazards; our goal is to provide solutions to create plans to safeguard your human resources and property. Our approach is to address each area with the appropriate industry standards and ensure regulatory compliance when applicable.
Our services are designed to align with OSHA 1910 and other industry specific regulatory compliance. Our subject matter experts will support the creation, development, and execution of OSHA 1910. 38 emergency action plans. Invictus emergency planning consulting and service offerings include:

Emergency Response & Planning from Invictus Consulting adds a layer of protection to your existing physical security components and plan. We believe that security plans for intelligent threats are an overlooked but vitally important part of keeping businesses, buildings, and campuses safe. Your physical security system and plan protects your assets of people, property, and profits, but it does not incorporate strategies and procedures for the possibility of an intelligent threat that endangers your most valuable asset of all, people’s lives. Here at Invictus Consulting we truly believe that physical security barriers and systems integration are not enough in today’s world – businesses need a plan to educate and prepare their employees for intelligent threats.
Based on your Risk Analysis, we will create for you the necessary emergency plans. This may include:

Each Emergency Action Plan created by Invictus Consulting will explain possible emergency scenarios for you and give you detailed steps and procedures to enact should such an emergency occur. Some of the factors that go in to your Emergency Action Plan include:
- Intelligent threat planning: How will your institution react at the moment an armed threat appears? One minute after? One hour after? One day after? One week after? Each of these benchmarks in time bring specific challenges that pre-event consultation can address to save lives and retain institutional continuity.
- Evaluation of existing electronic security applications: We will assess your current electronic security platforms and create a plan for systems integration so that your platforms can intelligently communicate with one another in the event of an intelligent threat. We give you the ability to apply lockdown and modified lockdown scenarios by evaluating intelligent threats and providing a plan that incorporates security procedures with electronic security selection and implementation. This may include data migration if your facility utilizes multiple platforms and systems.
- Assessment of business logistics and continuity: As part of your Emergency Action Plan we can include disaster recovery for your business itself, which includes putting a plan in place for how your business will operate in the days and weeks after an incident. This may include post-injury management and return-to-work policies.
- Training: We offer training for your in-house security staff on your new Emergency Action Plan and on the implementation of that plan.
- Drills: We are prepared to proctor drills with your security staff and employees to test the effectiveness of your procedures during an emergency event. This can be done as frequently as you desire – quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
- Ongoing evaluations: Pre-event evaluations are a valuable asset to mitigate institutional risk. As an institution matures, these threats will change. We are prepared to provide ongoing threat evaluations to keep procedures current relative to institutional change.
Some emergency plans may seem overwhelming, and Invictus Consulting is here to help.
