Hurricane Preparedness

October 17, 2016 By Joy Dike, PhD

hurricaneviewfromspaceIn light of the recent flooding and damage done by Hurricane Matthew, we thought it would be a good idea to revisit some of our older posts pertaining to business recovery. Have a look at our posts on some of the forgotten-about side effects of hurricanes:

  • Servers and electrical distribution equipment
  • Food spoilage
  • Lease issues
  • Paper files, laptops, and desktops

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season will have between 10 and 16 named storms. Preparedness in your home and community is important, and it is also important for businesses to have recovery plans to deal with the aftermath of a hurricane. As with all preparedness, put in the time and effort beforehand so that you will have a plan in place if an event occurs – don’t wait until after a hurricane or other destructive event to wonder what your business will do.
